Dear friends,

Every generation has something special to tell about their childhood. We used to play outside, and our parents couldn't drag us home, to make postcards-applications for Mother's day. We used to play Tetris, go to the cinema in large entertainment centres, watch cartoons on YouTube…

We often compare modern childhood with ours – and say how much has been lost, how many games and practices are forgotten.

But in fact, modern childhood is a richer and more complex phenomenon than we think. It combines sandboxes with online applications, discipline with freedom, and hierarchy with an idea of the value of a child's personality.

And most importantly, it's not something well-established: it is being formed right now. We don't know what it is yet. And in many ways it depends on our participation.

Let's create a modern childhood together

At the conference "University of Childhood: Noteworthy Practices" we will talk about ways to organize childhood: what formats are there, what skills to develop, on what values to build a ECD education.

I am sure that in the end, our understanding of the childhood of the XXI century will be enriched. Like a kaleidoscope: changing, but always integral.

Kindergarten ORA Nursery of the future in Dubai

Carpentry in kindergarten: the obvious and the incredible

Let's take a look at three very different kindergartens, where the idea of wood work is taken properly and permanently. We will talk about the importance for children to learn work that makes sense, their ability to pick up details and see an image in them, preparing the kindergarten environment for the carpentry, different formats of it, the involvement of teachers and other details.

In the format of a cinema club, together with experts, we will play the game of "Reversed" and swap the places of adults and children. We will recall the phrases that adults say to children nowadays, discuss modern child-parent relations and views on parenting.

"Zvezdochka", a bright star of Yugra

The kindergarten "Zvezdochka" in Beloyarsky, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Yugra is a building that is completely atypical in architecture, exterior design and colour scheme. Everything is new and unique here – from the materials to the organization of the interior space and its filling. The designers have deviated from the usual standards – long corridors, halls and classrooms. Children of different-aged groups have one common two-light play space, made according to the type of a covered courtyard. It is located in the center of the building and is always accessible to children. Modern walking areas are not only safe, but also unconventional. For example, large sandboxes, according to the architect's idea, serve not only for children's games, but also for creating communities of kids of different ages, helping to transfer the gaming experience from older children to younger ones.
